Kevin Gill, aged 48, has been jailed for fifteen months after security guards found a Taser in his bag when he attended court in Colchester, Essex to face charges of driving offences. He claimed he had asked his partner to pack a bag to for him as he feared he would receive a custodial sentence and that she had packed the Taser thinking it was a mobile phone. Gill admitted possession of an illegal Taser at a later hearing. The court heard that Gill had ordered the Taser from the internet after his house was broken into and he was badly assaulted. Gill was said to have a problem with alcohol abuse and previous convictions including prohibited possession of an air rifle. |
